Delta Industrial Unveils The Delta Mod-Tech ® Edge™ Laser Converting System at the Delta Technology Showcase - April 2008

Delta EdgeThe Technology Showcase 2008, hosted by Delta Industrial Services, included educational seminars with industry leaders, informative updates from component suppliers, onsite product demonstrations, and featured the unveiling of new Delta technologies.  Over 120 attendees from around the world explored the latest trends in the converting, finishing and packaging industries.
The first half of the day was filled with information packed industry-focused seminars. Tim Walker, president of TJ Walker and Associates, enlightened the crowd with his registration expertise.  He discussed the role tension plays in registration, offering detailed solutions to everyday production problems.  David Roisum, Ph.D., president of Finishing Technologies, discussed process optimization, helping find the best solution given certain conditions and constraints. He gave a fresh perspective on the bureaucracy of process optimization and the theory of “zero defects”. Many other speakers discussed topics such as return on investment (IFS, Inc.), technical advancement in flexible dies (Gerhardt Tooling), sensor selection (Automation Sensors, Inc.), end of line packaging solutions (Serpa Packaging Solutions), laser digital processing (LasX Corp), vision systems (Cognex) and optimizing registration (Delta Industrial).
In the second half of the day, Delta unveiled and demonstrated their new Delta Mod-Tech® Edge™ Laser Technology with digital printing capability.  This system specializes in flexible manufacturing solutions for complex geometries, precision products and quick-changeover.  This module’s flexibility is due in part to its unique servo-controlled robotic arm for laser module repositioning. Benefits of the Delta Edge™ include design flexibility, cost efficiency, high quality output, and minimal material waste, high reliability, and low maintenance. To compliment the flexibility already found on the Delta Edge™, the machine was also fitted with Delta’s New Digital Print Module. This new module features Xaar 1001 inkjet printheads to provide CMYK digital printing, the capability for print image changeover in seconds, and the modularity found on all the Delta Mod-Tech® modules. Once again, Delta is providing the converting industry one machine with many solutions.
