This time on Mod-TechTalk we discuss Island Placement and Island Placement Setup. This module is used to cut descrete parts from a web and place them on a base web with any spacing needed. Servo control allows for precise registration and placement. Watch the video to learn more about Island Placement and setting up island placement processes on the Delta Mod-Tech HMI.

For more than 30 years Delta Industrial has been a leader in web converting, finishing and packaging innovation. Based on flexible Delta Mod-Tech® modular technology, each system is custom designed to meet the customer’s exact specifications. Delta is dedicated to providing precise, flexible and innovative manufacturing solutions worldwide. In addition, Delta is dedicated to exceptional training and service, which is why Delta has partnered with Dunwoody College of Technology.
Dunwoody teaches problem solving and critical thinking along with practical, real-world skills that are much sought after by business and industry. It’s a rigorous style of hands-on, applied learning that places great demands on students and requires discipline and personal responsibility. It also fosters such values as work ethic, teamwork and punctuality. The partnership of Delta and Dunwoody will give manufacturers in this industry a resource for finding top quality employees.
Delta systems, when properly operated, can provide huge savings in both time and material. Many custom systems have been installed in medical, pharmaceutical, label, security and personal care manufacturing plants throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Job opportunities in this growing industry are plentiful which is why Delta and Dunwoody’s Design & Graphics Technology Department decided this would be a great time to unveil this new Specialty Converting Curriculum.
Delta delivered a fully functional Delta Crusader® converting system to the College last week, this system is being loaned to them to use for this program. “The students are excited about this new opportunity and amazed at the manufacturing capabilities” said Dunwoody Instructor Shawn Oetjen, “they are especially eager to learn more about the new job possibilities”.

Hello and welcome! Mod-Tech Talk is a technical blog created and maintained by web converting professionals at Delta Industrial Services, Inc. The purpose of this site is to inform, teach, and provide a technical resource for the users of narrow web machinery. In this blog, we plan to highlight common issues, address setup problems, and provide go-to resource to help solve your manufacturing issues.
We plan to provide technical write-ups, interactive discussions, and videos for training and demonstration. Our first topic will be a discussion on Registration. We chose this as our first entry because registration setup always tends to be hot issue in manufacturing and can be critical to any type of process, whether its printing, placement, lamination, sealing, etc… So check back soon and often to learn more.
Do you have an idea for a topic? Need help with a specific process? Feel free to contact us
Effective as of 09/27/2010, H.R. 5297 (the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010) had a substantial (and welcome) impact on Section 179. The biggest impact is that it increased Section 179′s limits (almost doubling them)
This should mean a substantial boost to your bottom line this year. But to get the deduction for tax year 2010, you have to act now, as once the clock strikes midnight on 12/31/2010, Section 179 can’t affect your 2010 profits anymore. Read the rest of this entry →
In this episode of ModTech Talk we will discuss Re-Registration Setup for hardware and software on a Delta machine. Registration is a process that allows a die to contact a particular point on the web. Read the rest of this entry →
In this installment of Mod-TechTalk, we will cover the steps used to setup a typical Die-to-Die Sync application. Die to Die Sync allows two same sized die rollers to be phased with each other without a registration mark. Read the rest of this entry →
